This little boy has survived for the second time sever malnutrition even though
he is now on the road to recovery, because he is under 3 years of age the damage
to his development, mental and physical is irreversible.
|
| This little one was not as severe as the one above so as long as his mother now continues to come to the center fortnightly and have his health monitored he should develop normally. |

In January 2005 Dengue Fever swept Timor in epidemic proportions, 20 children just in the local area where I live died. |
| "Skin lesions because of poor nutrition is chronic here also scabies that goes untreated and head lice. The head lice grow as large as a tick and they are easy to see them in their dark hair. I would estimate just by what I have seen that 50% of the population is infected with Head Lice" - Jill Hillary, AVI Volunteer, Hiam Health. |

on weight/height development in children plus supplementary feeding combined with
the weekly health education classes can be a preventative measure to poor growth
and sickness in children.
